Everything you need to know about HD, Full HD and Ultra HD resolution

Who says buying a new TV is easy? Well, you discover that it’s not that simple at all. If you want the best quality TV, you need to pay attention to every detail. And when it comes to details, there are a lot of details to check out!

The popularity of television is said to be declining. But the truth is another: people continue to watch TV and most likely do so every day.

This is why it is important that the TV is quality. Regarding the quality of televisions, we must admit that their resolution has a lot to say. As a result, you’re probably wondering what resolution to choose and what the difference is between HD, Full HD and Ultra HD televisions.

What are the resolution standards

Before delving into the topic of this article, we must briefly introduce the resolution standards often used for televisions commercially available today:

  • SD – SD resolution is 720 x 480 pixels, 480p for short. It is an old standard that is used less and less and is only found on very old televisions;
  • HD Ready – in the case of HD Ready resolution we are talking about 1280 x 720 pixels, i.e. 720p. They are very popular, having a digital input;
  • Full HD – 1920 x 1080 pixels, or 1080p, is the most popular resolution at the moment, offering sharp and above all excellent quality images;
  • Ultra HD or UHD 4K – is the resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels or 2160p. Since this is a very high resolution, it is obvious that the images will, in turn, be of better quality. And right now, Ultra HD resolution is probably the ideal choice you can make.

What you need to know about HD resolution

If you want a TV that offers good quality images, but is still economical, choose an HDTV.

Regarding the resolution of a television, we must immediately say that it refers to the number of pixels present on the horizontal and vertical surface of a monitor.

As for HD television, it is also known as High Definition. With a higher number of pixels, the picture quality is much better than SD, standard definition televisions.

What you need to know about Full HD resolution

However, the HD resolution seems to be too poor for today’s times. Therefore our advice is to choose at least a television with Full HD resolution. You will have better, more qualitative and more vivid images. As a result, watching TV will become more enjoyable.

However, you have to keep in mind that Full HD TVs are more expensive, but they are worth the money.

What you need to know about Ultra HD resolution

Finally, the icing on the cake: the ultra HD resolution. Well, they’re simply mathematically four times better than full HD TVs. And this could be a great reason to choose them. Ultra HD TVs are also known as 4K TVs.

If your budget allows it, choose a 4K television and you certainly won’t regret the choice you made.

What are the differences between these resolutions?

In short, the most noticeable difference is the number of pixels. But there is also a price difference. Keep one thing in mind: the more pixels there are, the clearer and better the images will be.

Additionally, colors are much nicer when the pixel count is high. So choose the highest resolution and you certainly won’t regret your choice.
