Declutter your wardrobe properly | Install cheaply

Eliminates odors from new furniture

Who doesn’t know? Overflowing sock drawers, entangled hangers and the frustration when the ironed board ends up completely crumpled in the far corner of the wardrobe. The contrast is offered by the glossy furniture brochures in which you can admire perfectly organized and clearly arranged wardrobes. But you can do it too! You can reorganize your wardrobe in just a few steps and simple tricks.

Start! – Step by step instructions for decluttering your closet

  1. The first step towards a new order is first and foremost a step into chaos: completely empty your wardrobe. Don’t let the mountains of clothes piling up on you scare you.
  2. Look at your empty closet and think about how you would like to best organize your clothes. Are there perhaps dead corners that you haven’t exploited yet? Here you can use boxes to create new space for storing rarely used accessories, bags or shoes.
  3. However, before you start tidying it up again, it’s a good idea to give your wardrobe a general clean and perhaps improve small things that have been bothering you for some time. Maybe you would like to add another shelf or install a clothes rail instead of shelves?
  4. In general it is advisable to hang out as many clothes as possible. This makes it easier to keep track of things and clothes don’t get dirty as easily. Wool sweaters or jackets are an exception; it is better to fold them.
  5. This is also a good time to sort out your clothes. Haven’t worn an item for more than 12 months? Then you probably won’t wear it again in the future – get rid of it!
  6. When tidying up, you should consider the seasons. Winter sweaters don’t always have to be on hand in summer. It is more practical to clean twice a year. You can use this opportunity to sort out unworn pieces every time.

Useful tips for the new order

Do you want to reorganize and design your wardrobe. To ensure that the beautiful new order lasts, there are some tips you can use to make your life easier.

  • Use transparent boxes – this way you can see what’s inside. Alternatively, you can use cute labels.
  • Wooden hangers look elegant and classic, but they take up a lot of space. Space-saving plastic brackets are more practical. They are available cheaply and in many colors in stores. The rods often also feature a useful non-slip coating.
  • Use hangers for belts and scarves. They are practical and do not take up much space.
  • Consider a system for your coat hangers. You can sort your clothes by type, by color or from dark to light. This way you will be able to find the item of clothing you are looking for at first glance.
  • Check if you have many identical pieces. Two or three black t-shirts may make sense, five or six identical t-shirts probably just take up unnecessary space. Sort out unnecessary parts.

Five original wardrobe tricks

Ingenuity makes life easier – and why shouldn’t you take advantage of good ideas online?

  1. Don’t know what to do with your jewelry? Use an egg pallet to keep small items organized. You can hang your earrings from a link chain stretched over the inside door of the closet.
  2. The open boxes at the top help keep the chaos of socks and underwear under control, especially in the drawers.
  3. A holder for towels or summer tops can be made with a trouser hanger and some shower rings.
  4. Attach the shelf brackets to the closet wall – this will create a sort of mini hanger for jeans, tops or ties.
  5. The tie hangers are not only suitable for the corresponding men’s accessories, but also for scarves, spaghetti or vests.

Enjoy the order

A tidy wardrobe is a real lifesaver: it saves you time in the morning by eliminating the need for annoying searches. You can take ironed and folded items out of the closet fresh and tidy even after weeks, and you will be happy to have a tidy closet every morning.

Checklist for organizing your closet

If you consider the following points, chaos in your closet will no longer stand a chance:

  • Sort your clothes by season
  • Sort your clothes by type or color

  • Use transparent or labeled crates and boxes
