The best design shops in Riga (Latvia)

Manilla Papeterie Design Shop Riga Latvia

it’s one of my favorite cities and I like to take the opportunity to make a quick detour to Riga when I return to Estonia. If Tallinn enchants with its very compact old town, then in Riga it’s not so much the old town (although of course it’s worth seeing), but for me it’s more the magnificent Art Nouveau buildings, the Wilhelminian-style neighborhoods, the mix of cool eco-cafés and small shops with great finds.

At the beginning of January I was back in Riga to find new brands and visit my producers. But obviously I also took the time to walk around the Terbatas Iela area and discover new shops as well as the more well-known ones.

Handle Design-Papeterie

I already knew Manilla from my previous trips, but I discovered them unexpectedly on Terbatas Iela 55, as they had previously stayed elsewhere.

Manilla stands for high-quality stationery, gift packaging, love and the joy of giving. The shop is filled with so many beautiful things: greeting cards, party decorations, small gifts, candles, etc., that you would immediately take with you. There is also a small wet bar, so you can stay longer in this very beautiful and inspiring shop.

Hello Latvia

I also discovered Ebe by chance. Hebe is a Latvian manufacturer of organic clothing for babies and children. The shop, located in a very nice wooden house in Stabu Iela 21a, offers bodysuits, onesies, t-shirts, dresses and trousers with fun and very original animal prints. There is also a lovely selection of toys, fashionable wellies and much more which has as little impact on the environment as possible, has been made with love and fits in perfectly with the rest of the range. Worth visiting if you have children!

Bold concept store

Bold Concept Store is one of the few stores in Riga that offers a really wide range of Latvian (but also Lithuanian and Estonian) design. As the owner told me, things are not going very well for most shops of this type, as Latvians still do not prefer local designers. But Bold is alive and becoming more and more creative – at least when it comes to shop furnishings!

Bold Concept Store Riga, Latvia

At Bold Concept Store you will find a wide range of unique, high-quality examples of Baltic product design, created by talented niche designers and focused on sustainable products and attention to detail. The special thing is the wide selection, because at Bold you can choose from more than 70 collections from the fashion, home design and accessories sectors, giving you a good overview of the local design language.

Concept Store Riija

Riija Concept Store is the oldest Latvian design store in Riga. I like to go there again and again, even if the offer does not change significantly in short intervals. But I love the atmosphere there, the focused light shining on the cozy throws and high-quality linen fabrics. I love the decor, the big bed in the middle, decorated so invitingly. And obviously the small accessories: candles, ceramic bowls, jewelery and more, which are deliberately placed here and there. Finally, testers from Madara, the famous Latvian manufacturer of natural cosmetics, always come in to discover new favorite creams. Riija is definitely a must for all design lovers!

I wake

Awake was a new discovery for me, but the shop is definitely worth a visit! Located on the 3rd floor of Galleria Riga, a downtown shopping mall, Awake offers over 30 unique and popular Baltic design products in fashion, accessories, home furnishings and children’s design.

You can find more design shops in Riga HERE.

But if you like to shop online, then I recommend Latvian home design in Baltic Design Shop 🙂

And if you can’t get enough of the trendy addresses in the Baltics, you can find the best Estonian design addresses in Tallinn HERE!l
