A wardrobe is usually the first point of contact in our home and is therefore automatically one of the first places that our guests and ourselves see. The wardrobe serves to functionally store clothes and other objects scattered in the entrance area, while still keeping them attractive. You can find out which wardrobe is best for you and what you should pay particular attention to before setting it up here!
How big should a wardrobe be?
The first question you ask yourself when buying your new wardrobe is about size.
First of all, it is important to become aware of the number of clothes you wear. From this you can estimate how big at least one closet needs to be.
Allow enough space in your wardrobe for existing jackets and coats, hats, scarves and bags, as well as your guests’ jackets and some space for new items that will be added in the future. The effect of clearing out to make room for something new cannot be underestimated.
We approximately recommend a minimum wardrobe size of 45cm wide, 60cm deep and 160cm high per person. However, this is not a must and can be determined individually, depending on what exactly you want to store in your wardrobe.
Hanging wardrobe vs classic wardrobe
There are many ways to furnish the etrance area with enough space to meet your needs. Hanging wardrobes are particularly practical for smaller hallways. On the one hand, the minimalist storage option requires a clear distinction between the things you need every day and those that do not need to be at hand and can be stored elsewhere. Hanging wardrobes, on the other hand, are extremely space-saving and flexible solutions for jackets, bags, hats and much more, simply by storing them higher up. Several wall cabinets next to each other are also a beautiful decoration and an even more practical storage solution in one.

Wardrobes with sliding doors
Sliding door wardrobes are a space-saving way to store a lot. These do not take up the space occupied by hinged doors and are therefore particularly popular. Wardrobes with sliding doors also look modern and timeless, remain in the background and can also provide individual accents with more playful door fronts.
The disadvantage of any type of wardrobe with sliding doors is that not all the doors can be opened at the same time because once opened they overlap.
Built-in wardrobes
Wall hangers are particularly suitable for those who mainly want to store hanging clothes. They take up little space and are still practical. Wall hangers are particularly useful in very narrow corridors or small entrance areas.
The disadvantage of a wall wardrobe is on the one hand the limited storage possibilities; There is little to no space for all the things that are not easy to hang. Having to drill holes in the wall is a further inconvenience. But modern wall coat hooks also add beautiful accents, especially the individual wall hooks that can be creatively distributed on the wall.
Coat hanger
Coat hangers are a good choice for a smaller entryway. Not only can they be moved flexibly, but they do not require any additional assembly for installation. A quick and easy way to create more storage space in the entrance area, provided there is space and unused jackets, coats, scarves and bags can be stored elsewhere.
How to set up a wardrobe?
As with the question of size, you should first think about your individual furnishing style. If you want to make your entryway as simple as possible, we recommend cabinets in soft colors such as white, gray or natural tones. Also, you should not use mirrored furniture fronts, as these, like bright colors, create clutter in your hallway.
However, if you feel that your otherwise rather simple home needs an eye-catching wardrobe, especially in the entrance area, then wall cabinets or cupboards with unusual doors are a great choice.
By deliberately placing colorful clothing items, for example with the help of trendy wall hooks, you can create beautiful color accents in the entrance area and further underline your individuality.
